How does driving to the supermarket and buying food that’s been killed for us put humans at the top of the food chain? How is hunting with a gun a fair fight? What if man didn’t have guns and had to kill an animal with his own bare hands and teeth? Look at a lion teeth, now that’s a carnivore. Shouldn’t evolution be one of compassion?
I’m so disgusted by the arrogant nature of man sometimes. Imagine what this world would be like without humans. Pest control and overpopulation- ever think that could be us? I’m not saying I’m anti-human, I am human. Why can’t we coexist? We split the atom, invented TiVo- yet we continue to act like barbarians and torture and kill animals.
“As long as man continues to be the ruthless destroyer of lower living beings he will never know health or peace. For as long as men massacre animals, they will kill each other.” #vegansofig

This is a video of a man being reunited with a gorilla he had raised years ago, and had since been released into the wild.
The intense, and loving look on the gorilla’s face is enough to bring me to tears honestly. They are such beautiful creatures.
When I get my teaching degree, and step foot in my classroom for the first time I want to know that the children I teach will leave there with their heads filled with knowledge and their hearts with compassion.
I won’t tack up pictures of animals, and point to them saying ” this is a cow, they live on farms - they make milk. ” there is so much more to animals that can be taught to children. So much more, a new perspective.
I would say, ” This is a cow, they’re intelligent animals. Like us, cows love and care for their young - in the way your families care for you. “
” This is a gorilla, they look so much like us don’t they ? How many fingers do they have ? ….” Etc.
I feel like there is too much of a gap from teaching a child what an animal is and then sending them down to the cafeteria where they’ll most likely consume chicken nuggets or a hot dog. I wouldn’t be allowed to explaining the concept of a slaughter house to them, but I could at least instill the idea that animals are basically like us, right?

Game of Thrones is using real animal fur for their TV Series. Fur is cruel and entirely unnecessary. Common methods of obtaining fur include, gassing, trapping, and anal electrocution.
Although Game of thrones is getting their fur from a company (House of De Clifford) that claims to not use endangered animals, this is no comfort for the innocent animals who suffer and die due to the cruel practices of the fur industry.
Ask the show creators, David Benioff and Daniel B. Weiss to insist that only faux fur be used because entertainment is no reason to support animal suffering.
“We were also approached by the Northern Irish television team HBO, and were glad to help by supplying them with ethically sourced furs used in during filming of the widely awaited production of “Game of Thrones” starring Sean Bean.”

There is no such thing as “ethical fur”.

Tofu Scramble is one of the first vegan dishes I learned to cook and definitely still one of my favorites. Total comfort food.
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced
- 2 cups cremini mushrooms, thinly sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 2-3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground paprika
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 block tofu, drained & pressed
- juice of 1 lemon
- 1/4 cup nutritional yeast
Sautee onion in oil over medium heat for 3 minutes. Add mushrooms & red pepper and sauté for another 5 minutes. Add garlic and continue for 2 more minutes. Add spices and de-glaze the pan with 1/4 cup water as needed. Crumble tofu into big chunks into pan. Lower heat and cook for about 15 minutes, adding a little water if the tofu sticks. Add lemon juice and nutritional yeast and combine well. Serve with whole wheat toast or anything else that sounds yummy!
